A Winter Wonderland

I love the silvers, grays and even the whites of winter.  The moodiness outside doesn’t read as cold to me, but mysterious and sultry.  Clearly I am a bit of a romantic.  Drawing those colors into the home is something I am constantly striving for.  Especially at this time of year when they are all around you.  They are such fantastic neutrals to layer other colors onto and create for a peace of mind that brown and beige just can’t achieve.  Like untouched freshly fallen snow.  Plus, these colors seem to epitomize elegance and restraint.  I could wax on forever…

Instead, let me share some winter inspired images for the home:

Marimekko Lumimarja wallpaper is reminiscent of fallen snow.

This painting by Jame McLaughlin Way feels as the a giant winter storm is right upon you. It is perfectly showcased by interior designer Susan Ferrier in this House Beautiful showhouse.

The "Enchanted Forest Coffee Table" by Michael Aram evokes the feeling of the bare trees in winter.

This bedroom, featured in House Beautiful and designed by Vicente Wolf, is full of those wintery colors: the silvers, greys, whites and even the icy blues.
