There is serious football afoot. And that can not go unmentioned. So, before I get down to the nitty gritty of describing this week’s wine, let me say one thing: GO STEELERS!!!!
Pfew, now that we got that out of the way….
This week’s wine is the Burgenländer Rot Pittnauer 2009, Austria. For those of you who do not speak German, this is a red wine. If you are wondering exactly what kind of red, well it is a blend of Blaufränkisch, Pinot Noir and Zweigelt grapes. If you are only familiar with the Pinot, the other two account for the two most popular red grape varietals in Austria.
David-the-wine-guy (By the way, if you read the post from Lukus’ birthday earlier this week, David makes an appearance in the second to last photo. I think he has pasta hanging out of his mouth- apparently table manners aren’t required for the sommelier degree 😉 ), describes this wine as “a fun, funky, easy drinking wine.” Think casual dinner with friends. Another reason it’s great for a group? It is sold in a liter bottle instead of 750 mL! Umm…. that is 33% more!!! And seeing as this bottle cost less than $13 dollars, you may be a fool not to try it.
