Fall 2011 Fashion Week Says Farewell

Sigh.  Fashion Week has come to a close.  I hope you enjoyed North On Harper’s coverage of it.  I have had a blast sharing the shows with you and of course playing dress up in my mind!  I am super excited about all the Fall Trends we saw: LOTS of sequins, rich colors, great tailoring and volume play.  And the final day was just as spectacular, as classic American design went out with a bang.  In fact it was so great that I am sharing three Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear Collections with you:  Isaac Mizrahi, Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein Collection.  Talk about showstoppers!

Yes.  Your eyes have not deceived you.  Isaac Mizrahi sent models down the runway with pompoms on their heads and poodles dyed to match.  This show was an event.  But it wasn’t just because of the theatrics, no, the clothing also had a wow factor.  With a range of bright colored dresses this collection will surely turn heads.

There is something very lux about Ralph Lauren’s Fall 2011 Ready-To-Wear Collection.  This is not everyday styling- it is rich, it is opulent and it is extravagant.  There is a strength in these looks practically shrouding the women in armor.  These women are ready for battle.

The shapes in Francisco Costa’s Calvin Klein Collection are uncomplicated.  But it is the fabrics that make them interesting.  Costa is so adept at creating beauty out of simplicity that his Calvin Klein Collection translates minimalism into luxury.  The above looks are no exception, as Costa successfully plays with volume and texture without overworking the looks.
