Today is the BIG day! Steelers take on the Packers. And with “Wine of The Week” back, David (our sommelier) has picked the perfect wine (it’s crazy how he does that!). This one is The Sum, The Seventy Five Wine Company, 2008. It’s a Napa Valley red (75% Cabernet, 15% Syrah, 10% Petit Syrah) and is described by David as, “lots of jammy plum” as well as having a great balance of acidity. Most importantly it’s a “fun wine” great for a get together (say a Super Bowl celebration party?!).
So what makes it perfect for cheering on the Steelers? Well, the 75 of course! It was 1975 when the Steelers won their first Championship at Super Bowl IX. Alright, so maybe that isn’t where the name came from (seems the family that started the winery moved to Napa in 1975), but I can’t help but appreciate the coincidence. And you can to, seeing as the bottle can be found for about $17! So, go and get yourself a bottle of this blend! And remember GO STEELERS!
