A Little Bit Country

I may have grown up in Atlanta, but I am not (as the song goes) a little bit country.  Both my clothing and my design aesthetic are very urban.  That isn’t to say an escape to the country can’t be appreciated.  This has been of particular discussion in my home lately as we have plans to attend a very good friend’s wedding in Arizona.  I am a bridesmaid and as part of the ensemble will be wearing boots.  My husband Lukus (who was raised in New York, but never misses an opportunity to dress up) and one of our friends, have plans to do their best cowboy impersonation at the festivities (don’t worry- they’ve run this by the bride who’s response was “I don’t care but you better do your homework because if you look like cheesy cowboys you get an F for effort.  Remember, I’m marrying a cowboy who still starches his Wranglers.  Bring it on!”).

All this has resulted in me growing deeply fascinated with Ralph Lauren’s Spring 2011 Ready-To-Wear collection that seems to go west, but with none of the kitsch and all of the style.

Check out some of my favorite looks below:
