Fall 2011 Ready-To-Wear Fashion Weeks just keeps chugging along. Milan ended yesterday, so it is time for a NorthOnHarper recap some of our favorite Italian shows. And, while I described London’s week as distinctly quirky, Milan always has an ease meets allure thing about it. In fact the three shows below have this sort of riding around on Vespas and eating gelato general enjoyment of ‘la dolce vita’ thing down pat. But don’t take my word for it, check out some of the standouts from Dolce & Gabbana, MaxMara and Fendi, below.
The first two looks from Dolce & Gabbana are markedly girlie, with their sweetheart necklines and demure patterns. Meanwhile, the look on the right balances its masculine edge with the femininity of the cropped sweater.
All three of these models from the MaxMara show make me want to jet set around Europe. I love the collars, the soft hues, and the beautiful fabrics. This feels like a modern Jackie O- and that is not a compliment I throw around frequently.
Fendi’s collection felt extremely intelligent, but also simple. I really like the color palette for autumn, which is saying something since I usually gravitate towards a black/grey scheme. It is also the whimsical shapes that make these looks so appealing.
