A Light Covering

It was brought to my attention yesterday that not everyone is enjoying the same warm weather that I am.  And in fact, there will be days in LA where outerwear will be required (today is just not one of them!).  Well, because I am concerned with my dear reader’s spring as much as I am with my own, I have assembled some great light-weight jackets for you.  After all, now that it is April the last thing you want to be trudging around in is the parka you wore all of January and February!

So feast your eyes on some of the great spring outerwear options:

Elizabeth and James "Conrad" Silk Crepe Blazer ($395), Piperlime.com

A silk blazer is preppy cool and perfect for just about any occasion.  For work it can be worn with a skirt and blouse and off the clock it can be paired with leggings and a t-shirt.  The classic silhouette will be in style for practically ever.

Zara "Round Neck" Jacket ($89.90), Zara.com

This is a jacket you would see me in!  I love how the tough almost motorcycle details matched with the sweet peachy pink color.  I see this worn over a dress- either mini or maxi.  Great for a night out!

J.Crew "Trench Motorcycle" Jacket ($168), J.Crew.com

Like the previous example, this jacket’s contradiction makes it interesting.  In this case the tough shape is combined with the classic khaki of a trench.  Because of the collars volume, wearing it with a slim pant (as seen here) is a great way to play with proportion.

Calvin Klein "Drawstring-Waist Safari" Jacket ($69.99), CalvinKlein.com

Safari style jackets are a springtime staple.  They are the quintessential weekend jackets.  In terms of pairing, practically anything goes.  Especially when going for that effortless look.

ModCloth "Classic Case" Jacket ($89.99), ModCloth.com

At first glance you think, “I knew there’d be a trench” but then you glance to the bottom and realize you’ve been deceived.  The bottom is practically a full skirt!  Take your cue from this shape and don a full skirt that peeks out beneath the hemline.

  1. Love the Safari coat! I admit, I spend time on ModCloth’s website looking at all of the dresses, trying to figure out occasions I’d actually have for wearing them. Unfortunately, I haven’t figured out an excuse to make a massive ModCloth purchase: good for my wallet, sad for my closet!

  4. The round neck jacket is too cute. And I love the way the trench flairs out – makes it so different and unexpected.:-)
