With the temperatures warming up, (slowly in some places!) my mind starts to drift to the great outdoors. And while I love the sunshine of the day, what I am really longing for are those evenings where no jacket is necessary. You know, when there are lightning bugs flitting through the air and it is almost difficult to tell where they end and the stars begin. Obviously with the smog overlay I am not talking about LA! Admittedly, I am an urbanite, but the notion of living life under the stars is a wildly romantic one.
So when I came across this photo, my jaw dropped:
The idea of screening a movie outside is so perfectly simple– emphasis on the “perfect.”
As dreamy and fantastical as this photo is, recreating the vibe is completely obtainable.
All you need is:
- Blankets, Futon Cushions and a few outdoor pillows.
- A combination of string lights and candles.
- Treats (like popcorn and wine).
- And of course, the perfect classic film.
The only potentially challenging pieces are the projector and screen. However, chances are you can borrow them from a friend. And if that isn’t an option: rent them! (Seriously, I just googled “rent a projector” and several viable options came up!)
Ahhhh… now if only I had a yard…..
