Happy Easter everyone! I am off spending time with family, but that doesn’t mean I am leaving you without a Wine Of The Week. Actually I have got something new and unexpected for you. This wine is of the Nero d’Avola grape from Sicily and is the island’s most popular wine grape. It is a very dark grape known for its big body and fruity flavors.
The wine we’re profiling is the Colosi Nero d’Avola Sicilia 2009. And if you are unfamiliar with this Sicilian grape, our sommelier David (who forgave me despite last week’s post!), says it is a “Great introduction to the Nero d’Avola, because it is an easy approachable wine. It is rich, juicy (almost jammy but not quite there) and full bodied.” This is a great way to expand your red wine knowledge and it will only cost about $13 a bottle!
