A Spot Of Tea

Remember how, as a child, you would host tea parties?  This is sort of a right of passage for young girls.  At some point however, we grow out of it.  We replace our teacups with soda cans, sport “waters”, energy drinks and of course coffee.  However the allure of a tea party remains.

I drink a lot of peppermint tea.   (Apparently it has a lot of health benefits:  it can calm an upset stomach, clear congestions, fights stress and can even help to control minor asthma.  Also, it is caffeine-free—so no jitters.  And did I mention it is light and refreshing?)  But even for an avid tea drinker such as myself, the art of the tea party has gone by the wayside.

But why?!?!  Tea has such lovely lackadaisical connotations:  an afternoon spent with friends— talking about everything and nothing at the same time. It is a time to sit back, relax, and enjoy some good conversation.

So, I am beginning a campaign to bring back tea!  And I am starting with the mighty teapot.  No longer will you heat a single mug of water.  No!  Instead we will sit down and enjoy a pot that we can share with friends.  To get you in the mood, I have cultivated a collection of some beautiful pots… enjoy!

“Strange how a teapot can represent at the same time the comforts of solitude and the pleasures of company.”  ~Author Unknown

  14. I am a tea fanatic. Love the Alice pot.. – (I’ve seen plates and such to match it, and expect to find them beneath my Christmas tree someday! .) I’m also drawn to the one with the cork stopper. I’m not certain if I’ve ever seen one quite like it.

  15. I would love to bring back tea! I love it but don’t drink it enough… Someday when I’ve got my own place I’ll have to invest in some nice teacups and teapots and all of that, and host tea parties to get dressed up for and all of that. so fun! especially in the springtime! Thanks for the comment, I was happy to be a part of your Brunch post and look forward to submitting more in the future!

  16. You need a “brown betty” in there. Supposedly they make the best tea ever.

I drink tea every afternoon, but rarely have the luxury to enjoy it with friends. Usually it’s just me and whatever I’m working on at the time. But it keeps me going!
