Wine Of The Week (33)

There are plenty of good high-priced bottles of wine on the market.  But that doesn’t mean I want to spend $50+ dollars for a casual evening.  Fortunately, there are also plenty of good affordable bottles as well.  And this week’s suggestion from David is the perfect example.  We’re talking the Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Côtes du Rhône Mon Coeur 2009.

According to David, “If you like Châteauneuf du Pap, but don’t want to shell out the money for it, this is a good alternative.  It drinks like a baby Châteauneuf: ripe with a little spice and anise.”  And at $19 a bottle, this Syrah and Grenache blend offers big flavor at little damage to your wallet.

  1. Thanks for stopping by today. This sounds like a great option and will be passing this info onto friends for sure. The French really do this varietal so well. I did a whole year of reviewing wines under $10 for my blog and actually came up with some decent ones. So totally agree with you that you don’t need to spend $50.

    Great advice!

  3. Super Cool. This sounds awesome. I’m not a huge fan of Grenache because it tends to be a little too sweet for me but the mix of the Syrah sounds like it may mellow that sweetness out. We should put together a blogger wine tasting that would be so much fun, I’ll make appetizers!

  4. Ooooo I want to try this!

  5. LOVE this suggestion, I’m writing it down now! Hope you’re enjoying the long weekend Alexis!
