The thing I like about DKNY is that while it may not be grand couture it is an extremely wearable and retail friendly label. And the 2012 Resort Collection is no exception. There are a lot of themes we’ve seen before (the cape, scarves, etc), but that doesn’t mean that they don’t continue to turn heads! There is a distinctly urban and sophisticated feel that epitomizes Donna Karan’s aesthetic, but it is the youthfulness that separates this label from her others.
Now for a closer look at the collection:
How awesome is the shape of this dress? This is a perfect example of DKNY bringing back the cape and me being beyond thrilled that they did.
And here is the scarf. This skirt reminds me of a wrap skirt that my parents brought me from Bali. I love that the elegant skirt is paired with a more relaxed top- one of my favorite style juxtapositions.
This is such a fun party dress. Gold and black color combos always have a sort of vintage-y feel that I love. Paired with the shoes??? Yes please!
Looking for something a bit more relaxed, but all kinds of chic? This is it. But don’t be fooled— the jacket’s color blocking is absolutely essential for achieving the cool factor.
Modern Suiting. There is nothing old or contrived here. Just a powerful suit that still possesses loads of character. (Remember The “First Impressions” post? This look would be a winner!)
All I can say is: talk about literal color blocking!! This tunic dress is quite the party. But its ease is what makes it special. Great for a “maximum statement, minimum effort” kind of thing.
What did you think of the collection???
