Kristen Stewart wows in W

I’ve never seen any of the Twilight franchise, never read the books.  I am barely familiar with the plot line (and what I do know was only put together by the incessant ads before each installment is released.  I am sorry if it speaks to you, it just doesn’t speak to me.

I know very little about the series female lead, Kristen Stewart.  When I do see images of her, Kristen seems to be overwhelmed by the spotlight and somewhat intimidated by the throngs of people (let alone the screaming tweens who live vicariously through her character’s exploits).  She does seem to have an understanding of fashion and a clear personal style, but often it is as though her nerves have gotten the best of her—resulting in some awkward photo ops.

So, when I saw this cover of W’s September issue I had to do a double take.  Was that the Kristen Stewart I just described?  She appears a strong, sophisticated and mature woman.  And dare I say provocative?

Here are a few more images from the magazine:

Kristen was styled by Edward Enninful and photographed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot.  And I have to say— they all did an excellent job!  I am just looking for a reason to do my makeup like this…

What do you think of these photos?  Do you think Kristen has a post-Twilight future?

  1. I too refuse to see Twilight, but WOW, va va voom! She looks great!

  2. I think she looks beautiful, although not quite like herself!

  3. I really love her make up!!! But she looks nothing like herself on those pictures…

  4. i have yet to be impressed with her acting, but she looks stunning in this shoot. i didn’t even recognize her at first.

  5. These are gorgeous. I love that Kirsten is so plain jane. She so average {which is why they picked her for the part}. So I love it that much more that they’ve taken someone like her and shown how much beauty she still possesses. Great photo shoot. I’m glad you shared this.

  6. I love Twilight!!!! Cant wait for the next edition in the UK! I think she looks amazing and I would (even today) love to wear make-up like that – for NO reason other than I LIKE IT!! :)

  7. This is the BEST I have ever seen her look. Usually she is so un-kept looking, but she is such a stunner in these photos. So impressive. – Katy

  8. holy. crap! that is pretty freakin’ impressive. usually i’m not a big fan of hers. i’m just not really fond of her acting and any time i see her on the red carpet she looks like she’s just rolled out of bed in day old make up. but these photos are pretty stunning! really great styling. just goes to show you that the right fashion/make up and you can truly transform a person!! =)

  9. Agreed. I never have understood the Twilight craze, but she is stunning here.

  10. I remember when I first saw these I thought it wasn’t her, she looks gorgeous! Beautiful spread.

  11. I too know nothing about Twilight and have always been a bit annoyed by Ms. Stewart’s angst…but these are gorgeous photos!

  12. I am not a big Twilight fan either. I am only on Team Jacob because it happens to be my son’s name. I think that she looks amazing in the picture. I am not sure how she appears normally.

  13. WOOOOOOOOW. She looks amazing! Normally she’s so girl next door cute. But Robert Pats got himself a hottie.

    Totally wacth Twilight it rox.

  14. I’m not a twilight person either. Of course she looks amazing, (but then with a makeup, hair, camera crew people do!)

  15. Normally, she looks very much like an awkward young girl. Here, she looks extremely sexy! I saw this same cover on a newsstand, and I thought it looked like her but wasn’t sure.

  16. WOW! I wouldn’t even have recognize her like this. She always looks timid, and awkward!! I guess private photo shoots soot her better! I like Twilight the books and movies, it’s just another thing to escape to from the real world :-)

Kristen Stewart is a chameleon capable of taking on quite a variety of looks. She is talented, and I think we will see her for a while to come.
