Emerging Emerald

I always thought it funny that the ruby shoes got all the attention in the Wizard of Oz.  I mean,  there was an entire emerald city!!!!!

That is how it is with green.  Even now,  with jewel tones being a major trend for fall,  emerald green seems to be fading into the background.  All the while cabernets and cobalts take center stage.  It is a crime I tell you!  A crime!

But I am all about bucking “the man” (just ask my parents…),  so here on North On Harper it is all about the emerald green… and the clothes… and the accessories… and the makeup…

Here is the thing:  I think green gets a bad rap because it can be challenging to wear on some skin tones.  My skin tone falls into this category.  The key for me is that the green has to have more blue in it than yellow.  That’s why emerald green tends to be more flattering on people with yellow/gold undertones.  So if you typically shy away from a kelly green,  give this shade a try!

What do you think of emerald green?  Love it?  Hate it?  Are deeply afraid of it?

  1. I love this colour!!!!! I have a lot of clothing with these tones – then again, (sneeky smile) I have a lot of clothing with lots of different colours :)

  2. Oh my goodness, I love green! I’ve just recently started gravitating towards green again this past year. It’s one of those colors that I always feel happy wearing.

  3. I am deeply in love with it!

  4. I absolutely love it! Emerald green is one of my favorite colors of all time.I am so happy to see it more and more.

  5. you’re right–it is a crime because that Tibi dress in emerald is amazing!

  6. Oh, you are really onto something! Emerald looks great on my black skin tone but I don’t see it often enough. *sad face*. Right now I’m on the hunt for emerald polish. Nice post.

  7. I have been desperately seeking emerald items to add to my wardrobe! Unfortunately, I am also a bit strapped for fashion cash right now. But I definitely agree, green gets the back seat way too often. I love the sweater dress you have pictured and the ring is fabulous! Me wants!!

  8. Girl, I. Love. That. Dress. For real.

  9. I haven’t tried emerald green, but I have a new kelly green corduroy jacket that I just love! I never thought green looked good on me at all, but now I like it.

I really like your new banner by the way!
