Chanel Spring 2012 Handbag Picks

To my lovely readers— I am currently in Honduras (see more HERE ), I will still be posting, but I have invited some friends to guest post for me as well.  Today’s post comes from Veronica of Best of Palm Beach Consignment.  Veronica has an amazing eye for great vintage pieces from top tier designers and knows all about how to shop secondhand.  She is always inspiring me with her chic finds, both old and new!

Hey everyone, I am Veronica Amarante of Best of Palm Beach Consignment.  My blog features luxury designer pieces found at local consignment stores.  If you are familiar with my blog you know I am a big fan of Chanel and so is Alexis.  When we discussed the opportunity to guest post on North on Harper, I was thrilled, and wanted to share some of my favorite bags from the Spring 2012 collection shown in Paris last month.  Alexis did a fine job posting about the collection and you can read that here.

I am a huge fan of accessories, especially handbags, so without further ado here are my favorite bags from the Spring 2012 collection.

What I love the most about these bags is just how different they are.  They don’t have “traditional” handles or straps, although they still have the trademark Chanel chain link.  They just remind me of the early 19th century kids who carried their books to school in belt-like straps.  Personally I am not sure how practical it would be to hold that bag on a day-to-day basis, but I guess it would require the same vigilance as a clutch.  In a nutshell, these bags are simply fabulous and I am happy that Karl Lagerfeld and company continue to be in the forefront of new trends and innovative design ideas.

What do you think of these Chanel bags?

(Note from Alexis:  In case anyone was wondering, I am salivating over these Chanel bags… but there is probably no surprise there!)

  1. wow those are small… i think something like that would annoy me. i like the over the shoulder/cross the chest ones 😛

  2. These are cute – makes me wonder about the origin of the design. Looks a bit like a weapon from the middle ages! Sort of “Capture the Castle Chic” ; )

  3. It’s been such a long time since I’ve really liked anything but the most classic of Chanel bags, but I love these and would love to have one…or three in my closet! They’re great because instead of copying another brand {like in past seasons}, they take the iconic Chanel chain and make a statement–so brilliant!

  4. Well aren’t those a little different. I love them. I always have to get one with a little strap so I can just wear it around my wrist if need be.

  5. Yes me too, it will be a while before they hit consignment stores. They are just the cutest things ever. Thank you again for the opportunity to guest post on NOH. It was fun to discuss pieces I wouldn’t normally post on my blog.

  6. Sign me up for the grey!

  7. I love that classic black one in my hands = happiness! … my night ensembles would be happy as well. :-)

  8. Those are some really unique hand bags. Chanel is such a classic label.

    Great post Veronica.

  9. I like the mix of traditional and modern, its obi a chanel bag from the chain link, but then the shape is new and innovative.

  10. I really like those. I don’t own any Chanel…But I will!

  11. I would call these a little purse….. far to small for me 😉

  12. There is a mall near me called the american mile it is an obscenely rich mall with louis, chanel, prada etc. Omg some of chanel’s stuff is hideous but then they come out with gorgeous pieces that make me feel the world is okay again

  13. omg, I was totally thinking of the old movies where they held their books together like that. These are so cute!
