Fall Florals

I have a love hate relationship with floral fashion.  I like the idea of it, but have no desire wear something that could be described as precious.

Well, this week I am back on the love train and it is all because of this:

The beautiful and lovely Chanel Iman in a gorgeous Ralph Lauren dress.  Sigh.  So, now I have an eye for florals.  But can you blame me?  Of course the best part is that I am realizing that fall floral fashion doesn’t have to feel sweet, or darling, or cute.  Instead they can feel sophisticated and smart.

And while I don’t have a reason for the Ralph Lauren gown, there are many other options for floral fashion:

  1. i love them, I think I might need that Lanvin clutch! believe it or not – I’m doing a post of one of my fall floral pieces tomorrow :-)

  2. I think floral fashion is so tricky! There’s something about it that always feels so early 1990s to me (aka, it reminds me of skirts I wore as a kid), but I actually did buy a floral dress from H&M this spring that I love!

  3. I think they are all lovely!

  4. My oh my, Alexis, that Ralph Lauren dress! It is so utterly beautiful! Ralph Lauren is a favourite of mine. Have a great week!

  5. LOVE that Ralph Lauren gown!!! It’s devastating! I’m with you–a dark and sophisticated floral is something I’d wear but otherwise I’m over florals for the moment.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend Alexis. I’m moving slowmotion/underwater this morning, just recovering from the flu so in case I didn’t thank you, thank you so much for the very kind comment you left about my interview–I’m blushing!

  6. Ralph Lauren is one of few designers I know that can make floral print gorgeous.

  7. Such a great look! I do love fall florals, I think mostly because I can’t “do” pretty spring florals. Now do I have any fall florals? No of course not. Maybe this is the year to get some!

  8. I’m diggin’ the hippie look on the far right. Long skirt, oversized sweater, right up my alley.

  9. I agree with Ada, and it’s probably also because I wore a lot of long floral skirts in the 90’s.

  10. *sigh* I can totally see how you could fall back into florals wit a piece like that. Its gorgeous.

  11. Aww man, Chanel’s dress is rockin’!

  12. I think floral is very tricky. The wrong pattern and color palette can make you look old and frumpy. These looks are gorgeous! I love the RL dress on Chanel Iman!
