A Closer Look At Rooney Mara

(LAST DAY!  Enter the 80 Acres Body Care Giveaway!)

There is a lot of excitement going around about the film, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo that hits theatres this week. Typically I abhor American remakes. Death At A Funeral, anyone? And don’t get me started on the rumored remake of Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others), which is seriously one of the best movies ever (Lukus agrees—and he doesn’t speak German and had to rely completely on subtitles to watch it)…but I digress…

Where was I?

Ahh, yes, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, staring Rooney Mara as the title character…

So you ask, why am I writing about a film?  That isn’t typical NoH content!

Well, because Rooney Mara is a great example of how we as people are really canvases.  That our appearance has very little to do with our genetics and much more to do with the choices we make.  How we wear our hair, makeup, what clothing we choose, do we tan, work out—there are a multitude of factors that go into our appearance.

The best part?  It can easily be changed.  Hair dye, a dramatic lip color, a new dress— all of these have the power to alter our appearance and what image we project.

Don’t believe me?  Well, take the fact that every image in this post is Rooney Mara.

Yes.  Every photo.

Have you ever made a complete physical transformation?

  1. I have made quite a few shocking transformations in my lifetime :) I think…. even at my age, I still see more in the future (Big smile …..) I loved the movie ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’…. You must see it !

  2. Love these and couldn’t agree more! I love being able to wake up each morning and completely dress to my mood. I don’t really seem to stick with one style, rather I dabble a little in several. I dress to coordinate with ‘who’ i fee like that day.

  3. Amazing! Actresses and models can transform more easily than regular people because other people are dressing them to look like certain characters or to help them look right for a photo shoot. Their physical qualities really are a canvas. With us our personal style and how we feel about ourselves, what we want to convey to the world, steps in and hinders us from totally changing our look every day. For instance, recently my husband picked an outfit out for me to wear. I can’t tell you how self conscious I felt! I felt like I was walking around in another woman’s clothing all day. It was weird and I didn’t like it.

As for the movie – I can’t wait! I saw the European versions and found they lacked the excitement of the books. The second in the series, which was really a page turner, was a really boring movie. I’m hoping the American version has a bit more excitement to it.

  4. I read all of the books and saw the film a long while ago, I must admit I wasn’t too keen on viewing the American version of the film, as I do not like remakes at all too much. Perhaps, I just may see it over the holiday… maybe. She’s beautiful and talented. Mara does look completely different in these photos. I love it! & I’d agree about Das Leben der Anderen, hopefully they won’t mess up if done … completely changing the density of the film. Happy holidays.

  5. I love transforming myself :-) My wardrobe is a wild mixture of different styles, and you never know what my color my hair may be after a visit to the colorist. (The only thing I can’t seem to do is *cut* my hair. It’s quite long and I just know I would regret it :-)

  6. I haven’t made any transformations, but I think I should =)

  7. I saw the first version of this movie on netflix, it is really good. Sad story but really great movie. I can’t wait to see the new version.
I’ve done a complete transformation and every day I am still transforming. We never remain the same.

  8. She’s fab. Love her face – any style would look good.

  9. Oh to Be a Muse says:

I just saw this movie last night and it was really great. I read the books and saw the original movies. Noomi Rapace was wonderful as Lisbeth and Rooney was great too. A total transformation in her look, indeed.

  10. I’m really excited to see this, I hope its as good as the book was! I love what a simple change in hair and makeup can do for someone. I think its fun to completely change your look.
