Giambattista Valli, Couturier

Remember way back in October when I shared the Giambattista Valli capsule collection for Macy’s?

Well this post is also about Giambattista Valli, but a completely different side of his growing empire—namely, his role as a couturier.

That’s right, after being invited to show for the first time during this past Couture Week, Valli has just received the rare honor of being officially recognized as a Haute Couture designer by the Fédération Française de la Couture.  (Don’t know what I am talking about?  Check out my post on Haute Couture)

This is kind of a big deal—and not just because it is always a big deal to receive this honor.  Typically a designer will show 5 times during Couture Week before being bestowed the title, making Valli’s single showing extra special.

In honor of this, I thought it fitting that I share some of my favorite images from the first Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Show:

What do you think of the designs?

  1. I think my favorite is the middle photo – , also love the second one *and* (is this too weird?) the top one puts me in mind of a “hot” Mrs. Claus outfit!
Honestly that last one freaks me out a bit. I’m not quite certain why 😉

  2. Gianbattista valli is a rising star. i really love his creations!

  3. I think most of the designs are lovely. Especially the third and fourth ones. I love the bottom in the last photo but really dislike the top.

  4. Oooh, I really like that 4th dress. I’m clueless about fashion, but appreciate another’s creativity =)

  5. Isn’t that great! I read about that too! Good for him!

  6. I LOVE him and am long time fan of his work, I’m so happy for him!

  7. Oh my gosh they’re BEAUTIFUL! I can see why he got the award. They’re both timeless, interesting, luxurious and wearable.
