I know. I gave you an Italian red wine last week. So why am I doing it again this week? Well, because this is a totally different wine. La Mondianese ‘Baby Barb’ Barbera D’ Asti 2009 comes from the Piedmont region and blends the old and the new. The barbera varietal has a lot of history and is one of the most popular grapes in Italy. However, La Mondianese wineries use very new production using a stainless steel barrels in the fermentation process.
David describes it as an “everyday drinking wine, with notes of almond and cherry. It is very light with only a touch of acidity. This is the kind of wine that you can drink quite a bit of without paying the price later.” Speaking of price, well at $10 a bottle that won’t cost you much either!
