Last Shots

It happened.  Despite my best efforts to prevent it, my vacation has come to an end.  This afternoon I will be hoping on a plane back to Los Angeles.

This trip has been so much fun- super easy and just perfect for celebrating Lukus’ birthday.  As I looked back at some of the photos I took this week, it has come to my attention, that there are something that still need to be shared… the caveat is, this need a little more explanation.

Here we go:

Remember my trip to the Alligator Farm?  Well there was one rock where many of the alligator sunned themselves.  I couldn’t believe the mass of bodies.

This was a gorgeous sunset on Amelia.  The best part about being on an island is you get both sunrises and sunsets.

I realized I failed to share photos of the beach!  This is mostly because I was afraid of sand getting into my camera.  I did, however, catch this shot from the boardwalk.

For the birthday celebration (in addition to Lukus, we also celebrated my dad’s and one of my sisters’ birthdays) my sister prepared a traditional German mulled wine that is topped with an alcohol-soaked block of sugar, which is set on fire.  It is called Feuerzangenbowle.

Okay, so this one is pretty self-explanatory—just another shot from the aquarium.

How much do Lukus and the grouper look alike?  We were in a tunnel and lighting made Lukus look particularly blue.

  1. Wow, that’s a lot of gators! And I love the last shot lol

  2. LOL, that last shot is the best.

  3. Love these shots–the aquarium looks beautiful. I hope you had a great celebration and time with your family Alexis–so good you got to get back home. Wishing you safe travels back! I’m in LA at least 3x a week now for work, we have to get together soon!

  4. Holy cow that is a lot of alligators! It’s actually difficult to see where one of their bodies ends and another begins. What an incredible thing to see.

  5. Flaming alcohol sugar? That would make me kind of nervous, I think! The picture of Lukas with the grouper is adorable!

  6. WOW!! All those alligators! Spectacular shot! The sugar on fire is mesmerizing. I would love to know how to make that mulled wine. It really looks cool. I don’t blame you for not taking many beach pictures. I too would be afraid of the sand! Sorry your vacation has ended but it appears you really had a great time! Thanks for visiting me!

  7. What a great vacation & beautiful memories! Thanks for sharing them with us.

  8. I had to look at twice till I noticed all those alligators, lol. I miss winters with Mulled Wine. It’s not the same without family and friends to drink it with….

Have a wonderful trip home and thank you for sharing with us your lovely birthday vacation.

  9. Love the shot of Lukus and his twin! Too cute!

  10. There’s the shot of the beach, and a very nice one indeed!
