NoH Series: The LBD (Casual)

Today is part two of NoH Series: The LBD, but it is also the first styling.

I wanted today’s lbd look to be super casual.  As in crazy casual.  As in throw it on run out the door.  Basically, I wanted something that I could kick around town in on a cooler day.

It’s sort of a nod to 90s grunge—drawing inspiration from movies like Reality Bites and Hole era Courtney Love.  I love getting to wear boots with a dress… something about the tough and sweet combo really speaks to me.

I kept the look modern by replacing a standard knit cap with a gold painted version, replaced the flannel of the 90s with a hoodie-style (faux) leather jacket.  My shoes are my favorite element.  I went with a short motorcycle boot that is super comfortable, but also a fun look.

Let’s give one more shout out to the gold painted knit cap.  Total lux meets comfort!  I mean come on, what other kind of knit cap would you expect me to wear?!

  1. I am such a sucker for a LBD with a moto jacket and biker boots – you pull it off effortlessly Alexis!

  2. Love this look! I’ve been a bit burned out on stockings this year or I would’ve been wearing it too…maybe next winter.

    xo Mary Jo

  3. Love the complete look. The knit cap… super cute is that and no, I wouldn’t expect you to wear anything less, lol

  4. That is one rockin’ outfit. I am loving the knitted cap and oh my goodness, those boots!!!

  8. I have never thought of wearing a lbd on a casual look! You did a great job! I love the jacket!

  9. Oh ..Perfect casual look 😉 This rocks!

  10. That i definitely like. It has a mix of 90’s and 70’s punk a little bit yet still with a dash of class. I immediately thought of Audrey Hepburn had she had to go a bit grunge/punk.

  11. Love this look! The boots are usually how I wore mine, actually. I love boots for their warmth, comfort and edge.

  12. Just a suggestion – but you should add a link to Pinterest! Your posts are so fun and totally “pinnable.”
    Love that gold hat!

  13. I like that you put options of different price ranges and I’m liking the look. I do feel that the look is missing something like a belt or a necklace.

    Take care!

  14. Alexis you are just so adorable and pretty. I really think you could wear a potato sack and it would look cute. Your outfit is great though – no potato sacks here! It’s a look I’ve always liked. Black leather jacket over black dress? Yes! With boots? Even better! I used to wear stuff like that all the time. Maybe I should again?

  15. Cuteee! I love the grunge aspect, and how you totally added some glam with the cap.

  16. Love how you styled this look!! Personal fave.

  17. Love this! This one is my fave of the series!!!!!

  18. Love this! The hat, the jacket, the booties… everything. I’d wear this outfit fa sho.
