Stop Kony 2012

Today, I am addressing something a bit heavier than the normal NoH post.  And it also is a bit time consuming.  BUT, if you can set some time aside today to watch this video- PLEASE DO.

If you are active on Twitter you may have noticed #stopkony trending as part of the Stop Kony 2012 movement

This is in reference to Joseph Kony.  Joseph Kony is leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) a militia in Uganda that employees children as soldiers.  Kony and his soldiers are associated with murder, kidnapping and rape.  I won’t get into the details, but he is a BAD guy.

Filmaker Jason Russell and the folks over at Invisible Children have started a campaign to draw attention to this warlord on an international scale, in hopes to finally bring him to justice. (click on the link to find out how you can get involved)

If you have time check out the video—- it is 30 minutes, but it is an important 30 minutes.

Thank you for allowing this diversion from the typical today.  I promise regular scheduled programming will be back tomorrow!

  1. An amazing video.. put me to tears!

  2. I love this cause. I hope people see the bigger picture, too, though. I hope this has shown people what we can all do if we work together. We might not be rich, famous, or hold political positions, but when we all fight together, we can and will be heard.

Also, I want to advise people to do some research as to exactly where and how the money is being spent before donating. I fully intend to support this issue up to the point of finances. I’m just a bit leery because of some things I’ve seen and read.

  3. Excellent post Alexis and moving video! So glad that you shared about this.

  4. So glad you posted this Alexis. The part where he explains it to his son is just so powerful.
