Balenciaga Fall 2012 Ad Campaign

I’ve been talking incessantly about summer.  And you can’t blame me.  This has been a wildly hot summer!  But that doesn’t mean to world of fashion has stopped.  Fall Ad Campaigns are already being released.  In order to ease you into the seasonal change (Psychologically!  Physically I will be wearing summer attire for another few months!), I thought it best we start off with the Balenciaga Fall 2012 Ad Campaign.  Because, while the photos showcase decidedly urban Fall-wear, at least they are set in beach dunes!

Photographed by Steven Meisel and styled by Marie-Amélie Sauvé, I think the juxtaposition of the setting and the attire makes for an eye-catching ad.  The futuristic pieces next to the weathered fence only add to the contrast making for an evocative ad, I am sure to remember into the autumn.

Tell me, what do you thing of the Balenciaga Fall 2012 Ad Campaign?  Can you deal with the Fall Campaigns with sky-rocketing temps?

  2. Right now fall is such a distant dream….I am melting away :)

  3. Oh my I am loving the dresses especially the far red one in the first set.

  4. Mmmm… I haven’t had the opportunity to think of serious fashion in a long time. I found you from SITS. I think I might stay awhile.

  5. balenciaga ad are better than gucci in my opinion, every single ad of balenciaga still hv the essence of the fashion house itself

  6. Very interesting pieces and approach. As you said, I love the contrast in textures and colors within the ads. I’m on the fence as to whether or not I’m ready for Fall. Its my favorite season, but I fear it will be a super busy one this year.

  7. It’s an eye catcher, that’s for sure. But no, I can not deal with fall campaigns just yet. I want to fully enjoy the summer, no matter how hot it is. The stores already display more fall fashion than summer fashion and I really don’t get this either. I know, it’s a fast paced market, but still, I want to be able to find a swimming suit in August if I want to. It’s becoming next to impossible.

  8. Haha so apropos for today. It’s hot downtown and I’m working on the deep dark textures of fall/winter 13…can’t wait to get back to the beach! Hope you are having a good week Alexis!

  9. I can deal with seeing autumn/winter colours, especially for those who may need inspiration for upcoming excursions. I need an autumn wedding outfit!I must say I still cannot believe it’s July already! Summer is surely breezing by. :) Enjoy your week. /M

  10. Love the dresses on the last photo!

  11. I’m not ready for fall yet, which is ok. You know LA, the weather won’t cool off for months. So I’m going to try and just enjoy the warm weather this year!

  12. Such a great collection!

  13. Very interesting and unusual ad campaign. The scenery is antithesis to this clothing collection. Fabulous and attractive.

  14. I can deal with it. We aren’t so blessed in the weather department so don’t get to break out the high summer clothes except for rare occasions. In fact we have been dealing with downpours and floods in some parts of the UK. So I don’t mind the autumn/winter pieces coming through. I think Nicholas Ghesquiere always seems to have that futuristic/space age feel to his winter collections and this year is no different. I do think it’s a nice juxtaposition though with the beach in the background then the models wearing the winter clothes.
