I am insane for Chanel. This is of course not a secret. So insane, that I woke up early to wait for the Chanel Fall 2012 Couture show photos to be posted, just so I could share them with you right away.
For a Couture collection, this Karl Lagerfeld Chanel showing is incredibly wearable! In fact, there wasn’t one piece that I couldn’t imagine on the street. Mind you, everything looked incredibly lux and sophisticated and head turning, so we aren’t talking just any old street. Even the color palette has me salivating. Blush, grey, black and silver tones are sophisticated and timeless, but still feel youthful.
First for the coats. Coats have gained a special place in my heart. Yes, I am in the middle of a heat wave, but living in Chicago also means incredibly cold winters (something I am unfamiliar with). Ever since I announced my move people have told me I needed a great coat. Okay. Sure. Just as long as it can be a Chanel Fall 2012 Couture coat! These are utter luxury. I love the to-the-knee-length paired with volume and pattern so meticulous, you won’t want to take them off!
And what to wear under the coats? Let’s start with the skirts/dresses. There was such variety in this category! From the black velvet dress with the grey Peter Pan collar to the silver and pink-accented caftan, there is seriously something for every taste. One common thread is the emphasis on the natural waist. In recent collections, Mr. Lagerfeld has played a lot with the drop waist, so this was a surprise.
The natural waist continued in the blouse/pant pairings. Across the board Chanel showed voluminous pants that cinch at the waist and are then combined with an ultra-feminine blouse. But that is where the similarities end. The patterns and styles vary from look-to-look and I love the detailing!
Now for the gowns! Again, the natural waist continues to play an important roll among these looks. Additionally there is a sheath like aspect to these dresses (okay, not in terms of simplicity), as the dresses all seem to follow the natural line of the body. Of course it is the adornment that makes each of these gowns pop and destined for red carpets.
Wow. I’ve said a lot! But this Chanel Fall 2012 Couture collection called for it. Don’t you think? In fact, I want to know! What do you think of Mr. Lagerfeld’s latest offerings?
