LOVE(ing) Downtown Abbey

Have you seen the latest LOVE Magazine covers?!

Wait.  Let me back up a moment and start with a confession.

So here it is:  I have yet to officially get on the Downtown Abbey train.  Oh, don’t get me wrong—I know I will be completely sucked in when I start the series.  But it is this exact reason that I have been waiting for that perfect bedridden sick time (but not so sick that I can’t really watch) to consume the ITV/PBS series.

That doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate the stunning ladies of the series, especially when they cover the one and only LOVE magazine.  If you’ve been around NoH for a bit, then you know that the LOVE covers are some of my favorite.  And for the 8th issue I am not disappointed as the ladies of Downtown Abbey are gracing the cover.

Actresses Jessica Brown Findlay, Michelle Dockery, and Laura Carmichael were styled by LOVE’s editor Katie Grand and photographed by duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot.  The photos, like the show, share a period feel, but the similarities end there.  The photos have a mystical meets gothic feel that is almost haunting, unlike the aristocratic setting of the show.

Take a look and let me know what you think of the latest LOVE magazine covers:

So, are you LOVE(ing) the Downtown Abbey covers?

  1. Very cool! I haven’t seen the magazine, but then I haven’t been perusing the stands recently either. I do love the show though! Watched the whole first season on Netflix a few months ago. Can’t wait for the second season.

  2. Incredible, stunning, that top red lipstick is an work of art. I was totally obsessed with that series.

  3. They’re great! Love the covers.
I, like you haven’t jumped on that wagon, yet. I’m still slowly making my way through Mad Men and Ally McBeal.

  4. I haven’t gotten into Downtown Abbey–yet. For the longest time I have been thinking I’m pretty much the last person in the civilized world who hasn’t been totally immersed in it. I do the same thing you described, though. I don’t watch a show for a few years, and then I watch multiple seasons back-to-back. I’m sure I’ll do that with Downtown Abbey, just as I have with Grey’s Anatomy, Dexter, still never started watching True Blood, but honestly the interest just isn’t there.

The magazine covers are absolutely gorgeous, and I really love the gothic feel that they have to them.

  5. I absolutely loved “Downton Abbey” when it first aired, but I’m a costume design lover! I like these covers of the character sisters, a very vampire-esque fashioned look!

  6. I simply cannot wait for it to come back… I LOVE it!!!

  7. I have never heard of Love Magazine before… but I can definitely see why their covers are some of your faves.

  8. Love is always so innovative and cool, and even cooler is that I am not the only one on the face of the planet who has not seen Downtown Abbey yet! I really want to try and catch up though, feel like I’m missing out. Hope you’re having a great week Alexis!

  9. Ok, I really need to catch up on some TV watching….I haven’t seen Downtown Abbey yet (not sure why). I think I am worries about getting little hooked on it,lol:) The covers are fantastic:)

  10. The covers are awesome. Love magazine always comes up with nice covers. I see that Downtown Abbey is on Netflix however, I haven’t been interested in watching it. Not that I won’t one day.

  11. Wow, these covers are fabulous! Such a great series too!

  12. That is an amazing cover! Thanks for sharing.

  13. I definitely love the covers, but I’ve never really got into Downton Abbey. I’m not a massive fan of period TV shoes and although I know it’s critically acclaimed and won loads of awards, I’ve never felt compelled to watch it.

  14. I’m a Downton fan and a big fan of period films 😉 Honestly Downton isn’t my all time favorite as it seems to be with so many others (parts of it I feel I’ve “seen before” on other films) but I *love* Maggie Smith. As for those covers I also really like the goth feel to them!
