I love a short dress with a sleeve. Seriously. It is my weakness. So when I came across this dress from Tbags Los Angeles I had to share it with you. Frankly it is the ultimate summer dress.
“Alexis, what makes this the ultimate summer dress?” you wonder.
Well, I am so glad you asked! In order for a dress to claim the ‘Ultimate Summer Dress’ title it must fulfill two categories: Personality and Versatility:
Here’s how it breaks down:
1. Personality: This dress has personality—something that can be attributed to both the palette and pattern. The floral abstraction plus the cooler tones make for a visually interesting look that is on trend. This combination is key, because often summer’s florals can be a little to young. But in this case the look is all grown up and doesn’t remind me of something I wore in kindergarten (don’t let this sentence fool you, I was one sharply dressed 5 year old).
2. Versatility: The Charmeuse fabric is lightweight enough for day, but can easily transition to evening. By day, pair this dress with a pair of flat sandals and some oversized sunglasses. Add a brightly colored tote (perhaps this ONE from Mary Jo Matsumoto?) and you are ready for errands. At night trade the flats out for a great pair of sky-high heeled sandals, lose the sunglasses for a wrist full of bracelets and sub a metallic clutch for the tote and you are off to dinner and drinks!
Tell me, what do you think of this dress? Do you share my weakness for a short shift dress with a sleeve?

I’m with you on this – they always look so stylish and great for work too!

Love tbags and I agree, it’s a perfect little summer dress–people don’t realize how important a sleeve is even in summer, when you go in and out of buildings with ac and don’t always want to be taking a cardigan on and off. Hoping your week has been a good one so far Alexis!

This would look great on you as you have fabulous young pins. I’m too old for the length now but I love the pattern, it’s fresh and free moving without being too showy so you won’t get tired of it, Also the neckline lends itself to a great long necklace. Are you going to get it???
I’m with you 100%! And I’m all about dresses in the summer. I live in them so I’m always on the hunt for fabulous ones. Love the one here
xoxo
I need a summer dress so badly. I still haven’t found the right one. Maybe I’m just not looking hard enough.

Very nice. (Though I don’t think it would “hang” on me as it does on the model…*yet*. I’m nothing if not optimistic
I do share your weakness for short dress with sleeves, Alexis. I used to love sleeveless summer dresses, but these days it’s all about the sleeves for me (more coverage, lol):)
I’m trying to think back to all my summer dresses.. I think there is only one that has sleeves with it, and that is my basic black dress which really isn’t a summer dress at all.
So, in other words, I never thought to try out sleeves with a summer dress… I like the look of this one.
I love it! Totally agree. Its gorgeous, if you ask me.
I have a few similar to this one and they are the best thing!
I do for sure! I can imagine wearing it many different ways: with a belt and metallic heels for night, or ankle boots and a denim jacket for fall days, or with strappy sandals and a floppy hat for a hot summer day. The print is divine!
Nice dress!
That is a cute dress! But I’ve found that shift dresses don’t always work right on me (especially ones with sleeves) because my boobs are so big & I feel very restricted. But this is cute!
Oooh….that really is a lovely dress. Very versatile too!!
I love the style and pick of this dress. I never realised but now you have pointed out that florals can sometimes seem a little too young, I can kind of see it. I love Dries Van Noton when it comes to prints, he is the master. This is a great choice for summer time, casual, versatile something that you can call upon time and time again when the weather is warm.
I agree, this silhouette is the style of dress that I love! Something that has a bit of a sleeve so that you can roll it up, and a great print! It’s a very nice and versatile look! -xo Hope you’re enjoying your weekend.
I am trying to stay away from short skirts these days, but it is pretty, and I do like the 3/4 sleeve.
I don’t wear many short dresses, I’m much more of a long, flowy skirt type of woman myself, but I do love looking at short dresses with a medium or long sleeve. There’s something very modest yet sexy about them that I really love.
