It has been awhile since I featured a style icon (the last was Taylor Tomasi Hill), but with Vanity Fair releasing their 2012 “International Best Dressed List” I knew it was time once again. So without further ado, your latest NoH Style Icon: Diane Kruger.
The German born beauty began her career as a model, ultimately transitioning into acting. Fitting her beauty it was the role as Helen (aka “The Face That Launched A thousand Ships”) in the epic film Troy that set Diane Kruger’s acting career in motion.
In addition to establishing herself as an actress, Diane Kruger has established herself as a red carpet darling interweaving vintage and risk into her style. What separates her from the pack is that trend seems to be secondary to her eye for the visually stimulating.
As always, photos speak louder than words, so I have chosen some of my favorite Diane Kruger 2012 red carpet looks. (Seriously, I had to limit it to 2012 and red carpet looks, because since stepping into the spotlight there are about a million fabulous Diane Kruger-looks!)
Yes, the minty green of this Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown worn at the Moonrise Kingdom Cannes premiere has been the color of Spring/Summer 2012. But what makes the look so special is the old-Hollywood feel complete with asymmetrical cape.
I felt it only fitting that I include this look from the 2012 Vanity Fair Oscar party, given the inspiration for this post! The Calvin Klein Collection dress is the ultimate sultry number. Our style icon kept the rest of the look simple, with a slicked back ponytail, bracelet and miniature clutch.
The Prada dress at this year’s Critic’s Choice Movie Awards was another eye catching number. I love the grey and yellow color palette and the crinkled pleating. She keeps the vintage feel modern by pairing it with a fun rose pink clutch.
Another Prada number, Diane Kruger’s look at this year’s MET Gala was one of my favorites. The royal purple gown, complete with feathers (!) had an effortless look especially when styled with a simple hair and jewelry. Again, the look was accented with a fun clutch.
Last, but definitely not least, this sequined Vivienne Westwood gown worn at another Cannes Film Festival event took glamour to a whole new level. The shapely cut and the side swept hair created a gorgeous silhouette that not just any woman could carry off.
Now that we’ve looked at 5 fantastic Diane Kruger red carpet looks, what do you think of her style? Make sure to check out the looks highlighted in the Vanity Fair piece– they are also phenomenal!
