Chanel Pre-Fall 2013 Collection

I did the unthinkable.  I failed to cover the Chanel Pre-Fall 2013 Collection the moment it was shown. You can blame my daughter, or our move, or my crazy work schedule… your pick!  Either way this is another Chanel collection that I am excited to share with you.

Why?  Well.  First, I am a Chanel loving girl and I never miss an opportunity to share a collection.  And second, no one puts on a show like Karl Lagerfeld.  This tartan rich collection was set in an old Scottish castle.  Yep.  Perfect Chanel drama.

As you can guess, the collection has a distinctively Scottish aesthetic.  In typical Lagerfeld fashion, the Chanel collection takes what could become a costume party and translates it into a collection filled with wearable pieces.

Of course the coats and jackets are standout pieces.  The Scottish patterning lends itself well to the tweeds and woolens characteristic of the French fashion house.

I also love the pairing of pieces with combat boots and patterned tights.  There is something reminiscent of grunge, but with a distinctly high-end feel.

As for the gowns, these definitely brought the drama of some sort of Highland period piece.  I appreciate the airiness of these pieces in an otherwise very heavy collection.

Now it is your turn!  What are your thoughts on the Chanel Pre-Fall 2013 Collection?

  1. I saw this collection and of course loved it. I’m such a textured, lace, and jacket type of lady! I love the layering, maybe #2 and #5 are my favourites! Happy Friday! Hope you’re well. xx/Madison

  2. I really like the entire collection, but one … (the little pink skirt) but then, that’s just me :)

  3. Some gorgeous pieces here and I do like the tartan and the beautiful white cable sweater – so wearable!

  4. I love it! The textures and patterns are wonderful. I love the layer and looseness of it all. Its fabulous, but looks easy to wear. Great collection.

  5. To be honest I’m not a fan of this collection, not a massive fan of plaid in general. Some of the pieces are quite nice and I’m sure they’ll be a few stand out pieces through out the collection but as a whole, the collection for me isn’t my cup of tea. Ghesquiere for Chanel…???

  6. I must say I totally LOVE every piece in this – particularly in the last two rows. I love the layers, the romance, the suggestion of history, the grunge feel – just all of it!

  7. I absolutely loved it and wrote about it too. Iconic Scottish styles and Chanel haute craftsmanship and Karl Lagerfeld’s unique vision. I admit I don’t like every collection he designs, but this one was unforgettable. (I’ve always loved Chanel and plaid after all).

  8. I haven’t looked at the whole collection but I agree with you about Karl lagerfeld. I love pretty much everything he does. What excites me about this collection is the tantalizing promise that plaid will come back into fashion soon! I want more plaid in my wardrobe, but its still hard to find.

  9. Chanel can’t go wrong. I love the patterned tights, lovely gowns and the plaid. I am a fan of this collection.
