Christian Dior Spring 2013 Couture Collection

The Christian Dior Spring 2013 Couture Collection has arrived and suddenly my winter blues have been chased away.  This collection produced an array of floral concoctions- from the beading to appliques to the shapes of the garments.  And while the flowers were delicate and feminine, true to Dior’s history, the looks also possessed an architectural strength that characterize Raf Simons’ designs.

The color palette is all encompassing, including everything from soft pastels to vibrant hues.  No, this didn’t create for a lack of cohesiveness in the collection!  Instead, combined with the floral theme, everything led back to the collections springtime vision that was capped off with the runway’s greenery.

I love the lines of each of the pieces.  As I already mentioned there is something architectural about them, moreover,  they offer a bit of drama to the looks (keeping them out of the ‘too sweet’ category).  From deep plunging necklines to asymmetrical finishes, there is something daring about the cuts.  This gives the designs a sartorial depth, making them worthy of their couture classification.

What do you think of the Christian Dior Spring 2013 Couture Collection?  Are you equally inspired and left longing for spring?

  1. I am so loving the burgundy pant. I have been engrossed in black and white, the wine hue is such a nice change. I likey…

  2. There’s definitely an architectural aspect to the designs. I really love the black and white dress in the second set. Although I am still enjoying winter, it is nice to see spring brights from the runway. :)

  3. I’ve really been liking the direction of Dior lately. One of the things I’m loving about this spring is the mix of brights and neutrals, which is more my taste anyway. Love a big pop of bright color (ie bag, * this is a spoiler from my new collection, lol) worn with a mostly neutral outfit. Hope all is well with you and your sweet baby!

  4. Oh yes spring could come anytime now! I do like this quite a bit . . . Puts me in the mood for a springtime tea party or a stroll through a flower filled park.

  5. I’ve been a fan of Dior for years and I love this year’s Spring collection! You’re right. There’s a cohesiveness and it’s not too sweet.

  6. Oh, yes. I love the colors and can’t wait for spring to come to shed all these layers :)

  7. Such a beautiful collection — I’m really liking those floral bustier tops in the 2nd and 3rd looks.

  8. They do! They all look like they’ve been plucked right out of the garden. Some more delicate, others with more rigid forms. I love each and every design. It suits my personal taste more than some other the other designers. I feel most comfortable in a more structured look. I think it highlights my better features.

  9. I’ve just looked at both this and the Chanel collection you posted and I think this is my personal favourite. I’m a sucker for colour and the floral inspiration, popping yellow and beautiful dresses just gets me more excited than the Chanel collection. That’s not to say the Chanel collection was bad, it’s just I preferred this one.

  10. Oh, I love this middle black and white dress on the bottom row of photos. Its been so long since I’ve gotten to catch up over here!!

  11. Gorgeous colors! All the gowns are beautiful – I can’t decide which I like best.
