The Christian Dior Spring 2013 Couture Collection has arrived and suddenly my winter blues have been chased away. This collection produced an array of floral concoctions- from the beading to appliques to the shapes of the garments. And while the flowers were delicate and feminine, true to Dior’s history, the looks also possessed an architectural strength that characterize Raf Simons’ designs.
The color palette is all encompassing, including everything from soft pastels to vibrant hues. No, this didn’t create for a lack of cohesiveness in the collection! Instead, combined with the floral theme, everything led back to the collections springtime vision that was capped off with the runway’s greenery.
I love the lines of each of the pieces. As I already mentioned there is something architectural about them, moreover, they offer a bit of drama to the looks (keeping them out of the ‘too sweet’ category). From deep plunging necklines to asymmetrical finishes, there is something daring about the cuts. This gives the designs a sartorial depth, making them worthy of their couture classification.
What do you think of the Christian Dior Spring 2013 Couture Collection? Are you equally inspired and left longing for spring?
