Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had lovely holidays. It was a bit crazy with my little girl’s first Christmas and being back in my parents’ house. So, I decided to take some time to just focus on family. It has really been a special time…
Hopefully, you will forgive me for my extended hiatus. Because, North On Harper is back!
And, what better way to start it than with the beautiful Valentino Spring 2013 Ad Campaign? (Yes, I know it is only January- but this is how these things work… and trust me, this is a campaign worth getting an early look at!)
The monochromatic images shot by photographer Sarah Moon and featuring model Tilda Lindstam feel both soft and romantic.
Beyond being downright beautiful, the photos do a great job of capturing the femininity of the collection. The campaign incorporates the fantastic studding detail, without becoming too harsh and ultimately staying true to the collection’s delicate sentiment.
And while I appreciate the softness, I think it is important to also note that neither the campaign, nor the collection, is weak. There is a strength that is translated from the runway to the photos. But it is done so quietly, not overtly nor aggressively (a credit to Sarah Moon’s great eye).
I think the interpretation of Valentino Spring 2013 is spot on, giving the viewer a true feeling for the collection. And the photos are a great introduction to spring fashion! Don’t get me wrong, I am just getting back into my skinny jeans (post-pregnancy), so I am in no rush to give up winter fashion. But the images do remind me of the lyric “silver white winters that melt into spring” from The Sound Of Music’s “My Favorite Things”…
All right, enough of my thoughts. Tell me yours! What do you think of the Valentino Spring 2013 Ad Campaign?
