Valentino Spring 2013 Ad Campaign

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had lovely holidays.  It was a bit crazy with my little girl’s first Christmas and being back in my parents’ house.  So, I decided to take some time to just focus on family.  It has really been a special time…

Hopefully, you will forgive me for my extended hiatus.  Because, North On Harper is back!

And, what better way to start it than with the beautiful Valentino Spring 2013 Ad Campaign?  (Yes, I know it is only January- but this is how these things work… and trust me, this is a campaign worth getting an early look at!)

Valentino Spring 2013 Ad Campaign

The monochromatic images shot by photographer Sarah Moon and featuring model Tilda Lindstam feel both soft and romantic.

Beyond being downright beautiful, the photos do a great job of capturing the femininity of the collection.  The campaign incorporates the fantastic studding detail, without becoming too harsh and ultimately staying true to the collection’s delicate sentiment.

And while I appreciate the softness, I think it is important to also note that neither the campaign, nor the collection, is weak.  There is a strength that is translated from the runway to the photos.  But it is done so quietly, not overtly nor aggressively (a credit to Sarah Moon’s great eye).

I think the interpretation of Valentino Spring 2013 is spot on, giving the viewer a true feeling for the collection.  And the photos are a great introduction to spring fashion!  Don’t get me wrong, I am just getting back into my skinny jeans (post-pregnancy), so I am in no rush to give up winter fashion.  But the images do remind me of the lyric “silver white winters that melt into spring” from The Sound Of Music’s “My Favorite Things”…

All right, enough of my thoughts.  Tell me yours!  What do you think of the Valentino Spring 2013 Ad Campaign?

  1. I like SOME of Valentino’s designs, but all in all – not for me!

  2. Studs…

  3. Beautiful!! I am not normally a fan of studs, but this is awesome!

  4. I just love the stud detailing.

  5. Happy New Year to you too, glad you had fab holidays! This looks like an incredible ad campaign, such incredible studding and embellishment. Looking forward to seeing more…

  6. I love valentino!! Happy New Year!

  7. There are no words for those shoes…Amazing. So glad to hear your lil’ lady’s first Christmas was wonderful!

  8. Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and new year.

  9. I love me some Valentino. I can’t wait to see the rest of the in-store collection and magazine ads.

Hope you had a happy new years.

  10. That’s what I notice when I look at it, the detail…. it draws you in

  11. Yes! Yes! Yes! Silver white winters that melt into spring!!!! Oh yes! how perfect! It so is. Girl, you’re good. It makes me love this line even more. Not sure I’d wear it, but I’d totally display it in my house:)

  12. Welcome back and happy new year to you! I love that jacket in the first image, sure the designs aren’t for everyone, but I love them! :)

  13. Happy New Year! They have an ethereal look about them to me. Love the shoes.

  14. Who knew white on white with studs could be so right? I am looking forward to spring, and oh, how I wish the Valentino shoes were in my price range!

  15. Like the shoes. Don’t know if I’m feeling the entire collection though.

  16. Oh I like the Valentino clothes and shoes. The studs really make it stand out.

  17. Good to hear you had a great holiday, welcome back :) I agree the photo is very soft and really does capture the feminine side of this line.

  18. I love the white and the clear panels especially that are popping up on shoes for SS13. The studs are a nice addition and white is always relevant for spring summer.

I hope you had a good Christmas and New Year, welcome back!

  19. Happy New Year! I know the stud detailing is so in, but it’s just not for me. But I could go and see the Valentino: Master of Couture exhibition again. :) As far as spring ad campaigns are concerned, the Bottega Veneta is hands down my favourite.
