Of course I couldn’t go through a runway season without discussing my all time favorite design house: Chanel! Again, I can’t help but marvel at the ingenuity of Karl Lagerfeld, who earlier in the season showed 40+ looks for the Fendi Fall 2013 Collection, now showed about 80 looks at the Chanel Fall 2013 show! This of course begs the questions: does this man ever sleep? Also, can I have some of what he’s drinking?
The Chanel show did not disappoint. There were many examples of Lagerfeld’s love for fabric manipulation, for example, tweeds were made to look like embroideries and vice versa. And with 80 or so looks there was a vast array of shapes. I was especially fond of the shorter hemlines and thought the interpretation of thigh-highs were both modern and flattering.
Inevitably the jackets made me swoon (this is Chanel after all!). I was especially fond of the flipped up hemline detail which created an interesting pocket effect.
There was also several standout layered looks, where volume showed up in unexpected ways.
Some of my absolute favorite pieces were the dresses. From chunky knits to more body conscious designs, I could imagine feeling pretty amazing in any of these looks.
And if all that wasn’t enough, the Chanel Fall 2013 collection showcased some of the most impressive jewelry we’ve seen this season. I especially loved the large column necklaces!
Alright, enough of my Chanel lovefest! Let me know if Lagerfeld’s extra large collection filled your heart as well…
