Living In A Haze

I desperately wanted to provide you with an outfit post today.  I have not worn my new mom uniform once since posting about it!  How impressed are you?!  And I have been working hard on being creative in approaching my closet.  I promise!

But alas, this past week Singapore was hit with some very nasty air pollution (aka the Haze) thanks to some very unfriendly slash and burn practices in Indonesia.  Unfortunately that meant we had no outdoor time and no opportunity to shoot photos.

I do, however, have a small peek to offer you of a look that I wanted to share.  Be forewarned- the bun is still there.  I haven’t yet found a means of taming the mane.  I have a couple US products I would like to try out—but those will have to wait until I can arrange international transportation…

As you can gather from this sliver of a photo, I’ve exchanged the short hemline of my jersey skirts for a flowy maxi.  I love this option because it actually offers me greater mobility (bending over and what not).  Overall the look is also a lot less haphazard and much more refined.  Refinement has been the theme of my fashion ventures of late.

I wish I could offer you a better photo and some detail shots….

We did have a reprieve from the hazardous Haze today.  We took the opportunity to stock up on essentials and to soak up some Vitamin D.  I was able to squeeze in a quick photo, but I will share that in another post.  It’s crazy how for granted we take clean and safe air.  Things were so extreme here that I couldn’t go outside for the sake of the baby…

This did mean some fun indoors time and given I haven’t shared any photos of the baby in a long time, this seems like the perfect opportunity:

Yes, my hair is a mess and I am not wearing makeup.  But I don’t care, I love this photo.  Can you believe she is already 7 months?!  Time seriously flies….

So tell me, how did you spend your weekend?

  1. She is just adorable! I hope the air quality improves. I also have some air quality concerns about living in Los Angeles. It can be scary, especially when you have a new baby.

  2. Monica McKellar Marshall says:

They are great pictures, sorry for being forced indoors, not much fun with a little one, who, by the way is looking more and more like her daddy. We were talking about you yesterday with the Youseff’s.

  3. Love the pix – especially you and Salem! I had a skirt like that in 1990 – wore it so much I decided it had become a uniform and gave it away. Cannot tell you how many times I have regretted that decision, as I never found another as comfortable and that fit me as well. So take my advice, don’t give that one away!

  4. Yay, for an outfit post! You always look gorgeous, so how about that!! And, I feel a maxi is so verstile so it works perfectly here and many locations! :) Thanks for your comment dear. xx/Madison

  5. I love that you’re able to pull off a long skirt. I admire those that can pull them off. I am not one of those… =) but looks great on you.

  6. Oh my, she is just stunning, as are you. I hope you blow that photo up and frame it–it’s just all things good :) Love your maxi skirt! I have become an avid maxi dress wearer too lately and wonder why I never had more of these in my wardrobe, they are so practical for my unglamorous daily work (boxing product, hauling leather, etc.) and still pretty. Hope you are able to get outside soon, but maybe if it’s humid it’s a blessing in disguise?

  7. Wow, I never actually thought of air pollution being so bad that you had to stay indoors. Bummer, though. I agree about the maxi skirts. They have been one of my Spring/Summer/Fall staples for the past couple years.

  8. Alexis, your baby daughter is gorgeous! Simply gorgeous! Your maxi skirt is lovely and I think you’ve made me consider wearing one in years. I hope everything is back to normal now.

  9. I love that skirt. But I love the picture of the two of you even more. So beautiful!

  10. You and the your baby look so cute in the last photo!

  11. It’s my very favorite photo. Really. It’s perfect.

  12. Found you through Heather’s blog. Yes, you do look amazing for a new mum. Lovely baby too. Happy pictures.
