Cocktail Class: The Spicy Blackberry Margarita

I haven’t shared a recipe in forever- and that is a shame, because I really do enjoy cooking and baking and creating in the kitchen.  At our home my husband is the bartender- in fact when we first met he was a bartender!  These days he works in management in the hotel industry, but he still can make a mean drink.  So mean that I have enlisted his help in creating this post.  I wanted a recipe that would be perfect for enjoying these hot days with a bit of an unexpected wow factor.  Fortunately Lukus had created just the cocktail.   So without further ado: The Spicy Blackberry Margarita.

Spicy Blackberry Margarita

Ingredients (per drink):
2 Blackberries
3 Lemon slices
2 Lime slices
1 Lime wheel
1 Red Chili slice
1 ½ oz Reposado Tequila
½ oz Cointreau
¼ oz Simple Syrup

– In a cocktail shaker muddle blackberries, lemon and lime slices and chili.
– Add Tequila, Cointreau and Simple Syrup.
– Shake with ice.
– Rim rocks glass with salt.
– Strain mixture into rocks glass over fresh ice.
– Garnish with lime wheel.

Now sit back, relax and enjoy the last few weeks of summer!  I promise the Spicy Blackberry Margarita will be the perfect accouterment.

  1. I could use this drink right now. :) We’re having another scorching summer day. And please do share other recipes too. :)

  2. This looks tasty, and I do love a good margarita. A perfect concotion to say farewell to summer! :) /Madison

  3. Tell Lukus he can be my best friend if he can make this into a non-Margarita version. Maybe I can just switch out the Tequila and salt for something else. I am loving the blackberries and the overall look of the cocktail though!

  4. That looks mighty good, especially since I love blackberries and margarita. The addition of chile is inspired!

  5. Wow, delish! Maybe I shouldn’t be admitting this, but I have switched from my usual white wine to margaritas lately because it’s just been so hot and this is the only drink that seems to do the trick at the end of summer. Lucky you, a built-in bartender :)

  6. Oh my goodness, the spice, the red and the salt and tequila – so much goodness. Am very tempted to have the bartenders at our Mad Men: The Mod Years party make it on Sat night…but not sure if they’re as savvy as your husband!!

  7. Yum – it looks gorgeous and I bet it tastes great too!

  11. Oh wow. That looks quite lovely:) And very refreshing, just what we could use down here in hot, hot, Houston. The temps won’t settle down for a few months yet, so I’ll have plenty of time to enjoy a few of these. Tell Lukus thanks!
