Fendi Fall 2013 Menswear Collection

Let’s be honest: if a design house is showing in Milan there is automatically a level of lavishness associated with it.  And this isn’t limited to the women’s lines, but is true of the menswear as well.  And the Fendi Fall 2013 Menswear Collection is the perfect example.

Designer Silvia Venturini Fendi brings a rich history to the label.  She is a daughter of one of the Fendi Five Sisters and has spent the years since childhood studying under Fendi’s Artistic Director Karl Lagerfeld.  Having climbed the ranks to Accessories Head, Fendi brings her eye for detail to her Menswear designs as well.

This collection, while exhibiting several monochromatic looks, it is also rich in textures and layers, giving the collection depth and visual interest.  And yes, there are showcase pieces that are strictly runway (or appropriate only for the most daring of men), but much of the Fendi Fall 2013 Menswear Collection seemed ready for the real world and rather wearable.  (An element that I often attribute to Karl Lagerfeld designs!)

Here are some of my favorite street ready looks from the collection:

So tell me what do you think of the Fendi Fall 2013 Menswear Collection?  Has Fendi carried on her family’s legacy?  Can you see Lagerfeld’s influence in the collection?  Do you think these looks are street ready?

Ports 1961 Spring 2013 Menswear Collection

I know I have spent a lot of time covering the Resort 2013 Collections.  But that doesn’t mean I am going to neglect the Menswear shows!  And I thought it would be particularly fun to start off with the Ports 1961 Spring 2013 Menswear Collection, which showed in Milan a couple of days ago.

This collection made me smile.  There was great tailoring, interesting detail, sheen and color.  I mean, what more do you want?!

Lots and lots of color:

Okay.  So let’s be honest.  My husband Lukus (who isn’t scared of fashion!), probably isn’t going to be wearing a rose colored suit to work.

But the Ports 1961 show had something for Lukus as well.  By introducing color in smaller doses (and pairing to with great neutrals- love the silvery grey!), even those men with a slightly more conservative aesthetic can insert a bit of color into their wardrobe- be it play time or work time:

It wasn’t just the color that made an impression with Ports 1961 Spring 2013 Menswear Collection.  I also really like the use of pattern in the casual wear.  The feeling is playful, while still structured and accesible to most customers (okay- so the pants may be a reach for some, but they are fun!!!)  Here are some of my favorite examples:

Tulips and Tea

Lukus and I spent this weekend apartment hunting (right now his work is putting us up).  During a break we took some time to lounge around Millennium Park.  The park (as is true of the rest of downtown!) is beautifully manicured.  The park’s gardens, coupled with Lukus’ casual Saturday look (complete with Green Tea) made for the perfect photo op.

LAST DAY TO ENTER THE TOYWATCH USA GIVEAWAY!!!!

I always appreciate that my husband Lukus actually likes clothing.  Okay,  maybe not always (like when we are on a specific shopping mission for me yet we still come home with more things for him!),  but generally speaking,  I am glad that he takes pride in his appearance.

If you weren’t aware,  Piperlime has recently launched its men’s online shopping site.  I always like their women’s selection,  so I shared the news with Lukus,  who was quick to start checking things out.   Add that to one of his other favorite online shopping destinations,  Mr. Porter,  and some shopping damage can be done from the comfort of home.

In checking out these sites (and undoubtedly others),  Lukus has put together a list of his fall wants/essentials (I say the former,  he says the latter) that I thought would be fun to share with you. Think classic items with modern cuts.

Partying with Puma

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the Puma Fall 2011 Collection Preview.  And I have a confession:  When I originally planned today’s post I thought it would fit directly into my workout themed week here on NoH.  After all, Puma is workout gear?  Right.  But also wrong.  Apparently they have everything.  And that isn’t an exaggeration.  Okay, maybe it is.  But barely.

Back to the event.  Honestly, my words can’t do all my discovries justice, so instead of loads of talking I think I will share photos & caption them.  It will be like a picture book of my night…

Let me start by saying the event was a blast!  Lukus and Noah (my dear friend and Puma contact) enjoyed the food, which included Patron popsicles.  Yep.

Like I said.  They have great workout gear.  Especially these shoes (I loved these shoes!)  They are the Faas 500 running shoe and they are crazy lightweight.  Runing Network named them the best new shoe and they come in a plethora of colors.  Lukus and I were lucky enough to each be gifted a pair of the Faas 500.  I went with turquoise and he went with red!

These are some of the awesome items for Puma’s Project Pink.  I love that this project helps to raise money and awareness for breast cancer charities.

Remember how I said that Puma wasn’t limited to workout gear?  Yeah.  These bad boys are part of the Alexander McQueen for Puma Fall 2011 Collection.  These are from the men’s line, but there are women’s shoes as well.  Honestly, my photo doesn’t do the justice.  And they are so new, they aren’t even on the website yet!

Okay, these are both men’s shoes from Sports-fashion collections and, well, they are pretty cool.  If you can’t tell I am especially fond of the second pair!  It is by Puma’s creative director Hussein Chalayan and he is behind their Urban Mobility line.  Fun fact:  He also worked with Lady Gaga to design her “egg” vessel.

Another Puma collaboration is with Ducati motorcycles.  The collection includes clothing and shoes, perfect for riders!

They also have great street clothing!  Plus they have a watch line (the one on the bottom right is my favorite!)!  All these surprises!  Who knew?!?!?

Hope you guys enjoyed the look at the latest fashion/gear from Puma!  If you liked it as much as I did I suggest you make sure to stop by North On Harper on Friday!!!
