Did you watch the Oscar’s last night? NoH followed along on both Twitter and Facebook. And, while there were no major upsets, The King’s Speech walked away with some major victories. But it wasn’t the only winner, oh no, the color RED also made it big tonight. To my surprise (hey, I’m not clairvoyant!), the color was a major trend showing up on everyone and from a variety of designers.
Here are some of the greatest red successes of the night.
This dress is so perfect for Anne Hathaway, who has become quite a Hollywood powerhouse, while still maintaining girl-next-door charm. The soft up-do compliments the look and accentuates her statuesque figure.
Wow. Well after having given birth just over a month ago Penelope Cruz knows how to step out on the red carpet. Her L’Wren Scott dress hugs her extra curvaceous post-baby figure and is sequined in all the right places. I can’t help but think Jessica Rabbit. Plus the Javier Bardem arm candy isn’t bad either.
Best Actress Nominee Jennifer Lawrence, may not have taken home the Oscar, but she is still a fashion winner. Her red Calvin Klein tank dress works perfectly with her hairstyle. Proving that bling wasn’t required to shine on this red carpet.
Sandra Bullock’s red gown from Vera Wang may have been a complete 180* from last years gold Marchesa, but she looks equally fabulous. I am so happy to see her hair pulled off her face revealing a sophisticated neckline that is sure to turn heads. Limiting her jewelry to stud earring and two bangles creates for a unadulterated, elegant look.
Rhea Durham may have stolen the show from husband and Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg, in this fresh and fun gown from Naeem Khan. This gown may be my favorite of the parade of red dresses. It makes a true deviation from the status-quo, feeling both cool and innovative. Plus it feels like spring time!
