Tribal Style

I really wanted to open this post with a “thank you” to everyone for the positive feedback about my big news.  I’ve been super touched by the outpouring of support.

But as promised, I am not becoming a mommy blogger.  So this post comes armed with some fashion picks, specifically a look at one of my favorite things to help the chic transition from summer to fall.  I am talking about the versatility of tribal style.

So, why tribal style?  This is a print that works year round.  Tribal is fun enough for spring and summer, but dramatic enough for fall and winter.

To prove my point I have selected a few pieces to help you move into the next season:

Tribal Style Finds:
Collective Concepts “Tribal Traveler Blouse”
Cut 25 by Yigal Azrouel “Intarsia Knit Shorts”
Tibi “Jasmine Printed Shift Dress”
Helmut Lang “Green Cicada Printed Leggings”
Torn by Ronny Korbo “Sammy Tribal Knit Dress”

I love the ethnic feel of each of these pieces.  They are the sort of pieces that will garner all the right attention, because they are both interesting and unique.

But what do you think?  Do you love tribal style as much as I do?

Falling For Flat Sandals

Chicago temps seemed to have moved into full-blown summer this weekend!  And with it came the summer styles.  As Lukus and I ran around getting errands done, I couldn’t help but crave a new pair of flat sandals (of course it doesn’t help that mine are still in storage until they get delivered to my new apt some time next month…). I love this season’s flat sandals- they seem to come in every come in every color, pattern and design you can imagine. And here are a few of my favorites:

The Flat Sandals:
BCBGMAXAZRIA “Bryne Low Wedge Sandals”
DV by Dolce Vita “Adyn Flat Sandals”
Sam Edelman “Gable Strappy Haircalf Sandals”
ASOS “Flossy Leather Flat Sandals With T-Bar”
Corso Como Friendship Flats Sandals

Tell me, are you loving Flat Sandals this summer?

Floral Frenzy: Spring 2012 Ad Campaigns

I know what you are thinking.

“What more could Alexis possibly say about florals????”

Well the answer is: Plenty.

So, we carry on in our flower inspired week!

Today I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of the designers who embraced a floral theme for their Spring 2012 ad campaigns.  Perhaps embrace is to weak of a word.  These designers committed to florals:

Cynthia Rowley, photographed by Tim Barber.

Prabal Gurung, photographed by Daniel Jackson.

Stella McCartney, photographed by Mert & Marcus.

Tell me, what do you think of these ad campaigns?  Love or hate the floral themes?

Full Floral Assault

Yesterday I shared some of my favorite blooms in my parents’ yard.  As I mentioned I found the environment inspiring.  So inspiring that I thought I would take my floral trend picks to a new level!

If you are familiar with my style, you know I tend towards a softer palette.  But today, all that changes!  I have assembled some floral picks that aren’t for the faint of heart.  This is floral fashion at its most extreme.

Floral Finds:

Floral Picks:
Juicy Couture “Tropical Print Dress”
Plenty by Tracy Reese “Flounced Slip Dress in Azalea Big Blooms”
Trinity “Floral Print Tunic Dress”
Milly “Lourdes Print Tank Dress”

Not a floral dress gal?  How about this Alice + Olivia “Elyse Floral Print Blazer”:

Shrinking violets need not apply!

Tell me, would you embrace one of these floral patterns?

Black And White

With all the craziness in my life right now, it would be nice if I some things could be just black and white.  Alas, that isn’t going to happen!  (At least not until I sign a lease….yes, I am still apartment hunting!)

So, I found one area where I could get the clarity—or at least the black and white.

That’s right, I have assembled some of my favorite black and white fashion finds.  Don’t be fooled!  Just because the color palette is basic, doesn’t mean the pieces are…

Black and White finds:
Marc by Marc Jacobs “Enamel Turnlock Stripey Link Necklace”
Yves Saint Laurent “Oversized Sunglasses”
TBags Los Angeles “Gathered V Maxi Dress”
Theodora & Callum “Callum Bag”
L.A.M.B. “Iowa Wedge”

Tell me, are you feeling black and white?

P.S. Yes!  I have created a coordinating Pinterest board with each of these items!  Check it out HERE!
