I love décor. And while it would be nice to be able to own completely one of kind pieces, on my budget that just isn’t realistic. Fortunately, so many of the larger home design stores are making pieces that would look good in any home. Yes, of course there are still pieces that just seem too generic, but lucky you, I have already done the digging. So, just like last week’s post on the latest and greatest from Z Gallerie, this week North On Harper is looking at its favorites from West Elm most recent selection of offerings.
I am currently on the look out for a great side table and this one is in the running for the job. I like that the base is light and airy, making it perfect for a small space. It’s easy to clean, a little masculine (every place- even if you are a single female, needs a little testosterone- helps to balance a space) and very modern.
These soap dishes are small, but they pack a big punch. I like the graphic nature of the black and white. I like the idea of buying both and placing them in a couple’s bathroom. Another great usage would be next to a kitchen sink to hold soap, sponges, etc. Once again, we are dealing with a neutral here, so they are a great detail regardless of your design theme.
I love a good geometric/ tribal print and this rug is no exception. It reminds me of the traditional art in Honduras with its simple monochromatic design. But don’t let the simplicity fool you- this rug will add immediate warmth to a space. I like a rug with personality, because it takes design down to the floor- giving a room greater depth.
One of the most recognizable pieces from West Elm collection is the Parsons Desk. And rightfully so, the lines are clean and the desk fits with almost any décor. Well, West Elm just raised the bar, because now they are offering this desk in both a metal and mirrored finish. I want the metal one. There, I said it. I LOVE it. I think the finish is unexpected, any damage will add character, and super chic. The mirrored option is great too: very glamorous, a statement and visually light (my only fear- fingerprints!). Either way both these desks are sure to increase productivity!!
Looking for a little whimsy? How about these mercury mushrooms. Use one as a paperweight, add a few to a vignette, the sky is the limit! I am a big fan of mercury glass, because it oozes character, but with out being kitschy. And let’s be serious, a mushroom? HELLO! At the very least it will make you (and whomever sees it) smile!
